july 2011

As July comes to an end I am sad and happy to say yah.  But soon the kids will be in school but before that we will have swimming lessons.  Harvest will be here soon and so will all the real heat/  school supplies shopping and all the fun that comes with that.  There have been days that I am happy my kids are here so we can do things and there are some days that i just cant find what to make them do stuff to keep them happy.  We are all getting tired of going to movies and we just need to go swimming or somthing that will make them happy and me happy too.  But soon school will start and then we will be wanting to spend more time together or will we.  I hope that they are having a fun summer.  I am but I think we need to do more swimming in august.  That will make everything much better.  As I say good bye to July i am saying hi to august and all the fun we will have.  Maybe i will set up the tent again and we can camp out side.  That sounds great to me , how about you?  Hope all have fun this long weekend.  Hope my mom and dad have fun on their holiday to the states.

so i for got

As school has been winding down I have been looking forward to it as then if i need to run to town then i dont need to wait unitl the kids come home from school.  I have been working on aprons for the teachers and for a trade fair i have in july.  any ways i told everyone that iwas making them and i thought i need to take pictures well i for got .  i remembered when the kids had just finished wraping them and i thought i am not rewraping them so i did not get any pictures of them.  but all the teachers loved them and they never know what i think of getting them or making them.  so i thought to keep my  christmas costs down yes i am talking about christmas , i thought  i would make everything.  so that it is easy to send to my sister who is in ohio and so that i am not spending on things people will not use.  i ahve lots of things to make and i know that i can get everyone something that they will need or want.  so i am trying to get everything in order to get all of that......

i am so excited that school is done.  i have been looking forward to getting my house in order so that we are able to go and do things.  i would like to go to the states, but we will see.  as i am not sure when.  i will beable to spend time with my kids and that we can have some times to sleep in and enjoy the summer.  my garden is growing good and soon i will be busy canning.  so how are you excited for summer?  what are all your plans.?  i will try to make sure i tell you what we have been up to and i will try harder to take pictures of what i have been making as so you can get ideas. 

so aprons aprons aprons

I have been sewing, cutting out and finding more material to make aprons.  the kids asked me to make some for their teachers as school is almost done and for on of my childrens it will be on next monday.  the other two have a few more days of playing at school,   then on to holidays.  how fun.  but back to the aprons.  my first atempt to make a grown up one turned out horrible so iam keeping it as a reminder not to make that pattern as i dont care for it to much.  lve the material i made wit hit but i do not like it.  anyways so i am going to keep it and use it when i am painting or doing anyting that is dirty and i need to wipe my hands.  iwill have to get more material so i can make a better one.  i have been working on one and it is turing out to being better then i  thought and i really like this pattern so i will wait and see what will happen at the end.  i will try to post pictures but that maybe not so as it did nto work last time.  so you will have to check out etsy instead.  anyways that is what i ahve been up too.  also i can been making baby blankets as there are somany people haveing babies and i love it so that i can visit the fabric store more then ever.  now i need to clean my house so i can sew while it rains.

Lets start at the beginning..... I was at a Trade Fair the other month and I was selling my nursing covers and my hair things.  cute little hair do dats.  When people would come to my table and see the nursing covers they thought that they where aprons so i got a light bulb moment and it went like this why dont i just make some aprons and see if they sell.  so off to Fabric land and got some patterns then i went down stairs to my room and looked through all of my fabric that i had waiting to be used as something.  and so i started out with the kids ones as they seem to be the most fun and i have some to show now.  the models are my own children and now they all have claimed one of their own so these ones might not be for sale.  but we will see at how many like them and then i will tell you my secret of what fabric i used.  i tired to up load my pictures as i wanted you to see them but no luck i am unable.  not sure why but i will try to put them on my etsy.  To check them out check out my etsy which is treasureskatie.etsy.com.

Hip \Hop it someones birthday.

Today is someones birthday and his name is Jamie  he is now 6 and he just cant wait to have a cool birthday.  as a mom i have been busy and so i did not plan a birthday party. hopefully i can get one together in a couple of weeks so jamie can have a birthday i jsut cant believe he is now 6 and has grown up a little bit.  he is a joy in our lives and has so much energy that it is not funny.  he keeps us on our toes which is good.  he loves to be out side and riding he two wheel bike that right he can now ride a two wheel bike. yah for him.  this year he wanted was new jammies with the caps as he loves those and being a super hero.  what a great kid and an excitment to our family.  His big eyes just have excitment in them and they tell you that he has lots of adventures in his future soon.  he always wants to help and trys his hardest, he also wants to do what the big kids are doing like trying to sew with the sewing machine.  and he wants to make his own things.  he just loves working with his hands but for some reason he does not like to do crafts all that much.  which i think is weird but that is jamie.  Happy birthday sweet JAMIE as you are my energy that i wish i still had.  Your the best and keep being you.  Love you |Mom

This is what happened ................

Justin and Jamie love that they got vinyl lettering on their door.  thats right the boys now have their own room and it is so nice to put them to bed has the boyslike to goof around and the girls go to sleep right away.  anyways we i put the vinyl on the boys door have not done the girls yet but will.  might even put on flowers not sure.  so justin finds a small piece of dark brown and cuts out his own words that say no girls.  well katelyn was quiet upset and was making a fuss about it.  so this is what the conversation went.......

Katelyn," why are the girl not allowed that is not fair."
Justin," we just dont want the girls in our room. 
Katelyn," well i am going to get a sticky note and going to write no boys"

Thats right she was going to get a sticky note to tell the boys thats that.  it was so funny that i could not stop laughing in my room as they did not know i was there in there.  she did not get  a sticky note but i need to cut out their vinyl.  anywas nothing else is new.  i had a trade fair in lethbridge and it was not the greatest as there where lots of people but no one wanted to buy anything more brousers then buyers.  but that was for everyone.  anyways hopefully i will have better sucess on the other ones.  and i might do the farmers market in medicine hat.  i just need to call and find out more information.  chat later and have a great sunny day. (aka the sun is shining today and the sun is in the living room.  nice.)

This winter

What can i say but the weather this year has been really weird.  FOr the past three weekends it has been snowing and then blows monday and sometimes tuesdays that way the kids dont have school.  So i am hoping that this week coming up will be the whole week of school and no holidays.  as my kids have had more then they need.

on the days that they have no school they do not sleep in but when they know they have school then they sleep in or try to so they dont have to go to school.  i just wish one of these holidays that they will sleep in.  whats up with that. 

I have been waiting for people to ordersome thing from my etsy store but no one has.  One person put my shop as a favorite of theirs and one has but one of my prodjects as their favorite. so that was exciting but i will be more excited when i get some one to order.  if anyone of you know of someone having a baby or just did check out my shop at http://www.treasureskatie.etsy.com/ and then you can email me at treasures.katie@gmail.com or just order there from etsy.  i would like one sale but i will hopefully get one before may.
